Gherkin Art House is a creative partnership focused on the execution of murals and large scale artwork. We use a wide range of techniques, from painting, drawing, spraying and printing to collage, stenciling and projections. And we always are looking to invent new processes and try new materials.
We trained at the Bradford School of Arts and Media where we gained BA (Hons) in Fine Art. Moving towards murals and wall projects was a natural development step for us and an exploration of new possibilities in terms of scale, surface and location of an artwork.
We believe in the transformation of a space through creation of an image that rearranges the site into a more immersive environment. Each image is designed to work with the location and its direct surroundings, reflecting often overlooked or forgotten elements. The elements consist of natural objects and/or human intervention into the space.
The artwork is left outside and is affected by the environmental and human impact, maturing and slowly wearing out as we all do.
We aim to share our work with anyone and especially with those who would not have a chance to see it as a piece 'locked' within a 'white cube'.
